摘要
Commonly used methods to estimate fat reserves in practice are body condition score (BCS) and backfat thickness (BFT). Data on body fat reserves in Simmental cows and its relation to BCS and RFD are, however, rare. For this reason, the present study was conducted to determine the whole body composition of modern Simmental cows and to investigate the relation of BCS and BFT to whole body fat content. For this reason, BCS and BFT of 30 non-pregnant Simmental cows were assessed and related to body fat content as determined by chemical analysis of the whole body.
