摘要
The general objective of the article proposes to investigate Environmental Education (EE) as an instrument of environmental and ecological sustainability. In view of the proposed general objective, the article demonstrates that Environmental Education (EE) is an instrument of socio-environmental sustainability in modern society. The specific objectives of the article propose to investigate the historical development of environmental education, the principles and guidelines; ecological ethics and environmental education as pillars of sustainability; environmental education as an instrument of public policy on the environment and a tool for social transformation. Therefore, through teaching, human beings can and should transform thinking and reform knowledge about environmental education. Finally, the methodology used in the article was the inductive method based on bibliographies.
