The Role of Business Models in the Venture Creation Process - A Systematic Literature Review

To date significant ambiguity exists about what a business model exactly comprises of and what purpose it fulfils in the venture creation process. With the help of a systematic literature review this paper provides an overview of first, results of the latest research concerning business models and second, future demand for research about business modelling. In relation to the findings of the systematic literature review a conceptual model is introduced which serves as a basis for action to entrepreneurs, researchers and educators in order to use the business model in the future more effectively.
