摘要
Objective: The present study aimed at exploring effect of 8 weeks concurrent training on blood lipid profile and body mass index in young men. Design: 24 volunteer young men with mean age of 20.625 +/- 1.135 were randomly chosen as subjects of the study and were classified in three groups of endurance training, strength training, and concurrent training (n(each group) = 8). Materials and methods: The first week program of endurance training consisted of running with 65% of Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) for 16 min which gradually increased to 80% of MHR for 30 minutes. Strength training program involved toe raise, bench press, leg curl, shoulder press, squat, and lateral pull down which were, in the first week, performed with 55% of 1RM in 2 sessions with 10 iterations and gradually increased to 85% of 1RM in 3 sessions with 6 iterations in the eighth week. Concurrent training comprised of strength and endurance trainings in each session. The groups performed their training programs three times a week. 5 cc blood samples were drawn at 8 a.m. in three steps, i.e. before training, after the fourth week, and after the eighth week. Statistical significance level was set to be p <= 0.05. Results: Findings obtained from the present study showed a 33.544% decrease in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) in strength group in three steps of measurement (p = 0.035), while no significant variation was detected in levels of other blood variables and body mass index (p > 0.05).
