Self-consistent determination of the bridge function for simple fluids with the Lennard-Jones potential

A new modified hypernetted-chain integral equation far simple fluids is proposed in order to extract the bridge function by means of an iterative and self-consistent process based on the renormalization of the indirect correlation function. We have tested the method for pure Lennard-Jones potential, and our results are compared to those obtained with classical parametrized bridge functions as well as Monte Carlo simulation. It is a matter of fact that the role of the renormalization of the indirect correlation function is to improve the behavior of the bridge function all over the range of distances. Many states near the triple point and under supercritical conditions have been investigated: at high densities, very good agreement is found for structural quantities and thermodynamic properties as compared to other accurate constructions, whereas at low densities our results reduce to those of the standard integral equations.
