Analysis of the Failure of Rack Uprights under Combined Compression and Bi-Axial Bending

摘要
The failure of rack uprights under the combined action of compression and hi-axial bending is analysed by non linear FEA, validated with experimental testing and compared to the application of the European code. Three different sections and three different lengths have been analysed. For each case 45 different combinations of compression and biaxial bending have been tested. The combined effects upon the failure load of the uprights have been analysed by drawing three dimensional failure surfaces and comparing them.
