Glaucoma results in permanent Vision loss and affects the peripheral vision initially. It is present in 22.5 million people worldwide and is the 3(rd) cause of blindness. Present tonometers are not ideal for intraocular pressure measurements in all eyes. Of concern, PRK and LASIK may result in lower intraocular pressure readings. A challenge now exists for the development of a tonometer which can easily compensate for corneas with many parameters to avoid a future increase in normal-tension glaucoma or glaucoma which is advanced.
