A Study on Professional Development of Business English Teachers

Business English becomes more and more important with the economy development and extensive integration into international world of China. The demand of qualified Business English talents has increased greatly. Under this circumstance, many Business English related courses have been offered in many universities and some achievements have been made including Business English syllabus design, teaching materials, teaching methodology etc. But the research for Business English teachers, the central factor for the success, of Business English teaching, is far from satisfaction. For the success of comprehensive qualified Business English talents development, the professional quality of Business English teachers is a key, which can not be ignored. Then several questions should be explored: What is the present situation of prefessional ability of Business English teachers? What kind of qualities should they have to be qualified? What problems do they have during the teaching process? What are the solutions for those problems? What are the specific methods for them to develop and improve professional ability? This paper is expected to be helpful to find the answers of those questions by identifying the current situation of Business English teachers' professional quality and finding the strategies for their professional development.
