摘要
Batteries are important energy sources with high demand due to the wide spread of usage in mobile devices, electric vehicles and energy backups for off-grid energy renewable systems. Nowadays, Li based batteries which have the highest energy density are commercially supplied; however the raw material of Li is hardly available so its price is expensive and required more energy consumption in mining. Against these risks, Al alloy is another attractive candidate to be the material of substitution due to its high the-oretical energy density and abundance in Earth's crust. But Al is oxidized at quite a high degree in air or liquid electrolyte as its relatively high valence. Therefore, in order to slow down the reaction, 8-hydroxyquinoline, an inhibitor, was introduced and used for the corrosion test by adding it to NaOH solu-tion. The potentiodynamic polarization test of Al alloy graded AA5083 in the mixed solution was inves-tigated at 25 to 55 degrees C to evaluate the inhibition efficiency. According to the results, the temperature and the NaOH concentration can affect the inhibition efficiency of 8-hydroxyquinoline.Copyright (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
