摘要：

SPECIAL POPULATIONS IS THE FIRST OF A 2-PART COLUMN, WHICH WILL PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF THE HEALTH CONCERNS ASSOCIATED WITH FIREFIGHTERS AND THE BENEFITS OF A HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM WITHIN A FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE SECOND COLUMN, ONE ON ONE, WILL PROVIDE EVIDENCE-BASED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING GUIDELINES TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE WHILE REDUCING INJURIES ON THE FIRE GROUND, AND DISCUSS MODIFICATIONS/SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SPECIFIC TO THE NEEDS OF THE FIREFIGHTER.
