An Accurate Method for Calculation of Self-Inductance of HTS Coils With and Without Turn-to-Turn Insulation

摘要
Inductance is one of the most important parameters in a coil structure. A pancake coil with a rectangular cross-sectional area is a very common structure, especially in high-temperature superconductivity (HTS) applications. In addition to the simple coil, coils whose HTS turns are spaced apart due to air gaps or cowound with nonsuperconducting layers and the multisegment coils are also common applications in HTS. In this article, by combining 2G-HTS tape structure and elliptic functions, a method is presented to calculate the self-inductance of these coils. The method is compared with the former methods and the finite element method. The proposed method has been extended to coils with a certain number of turns to significantly reduce the computation time.
