CINEMA AND LITERATURE: AN ANALYSIS OF MANUEL PUIG'S CREATIVE PROCESS

The first half of the 20th century was a relevant moment for Hispanic American literary production, mainly in influence on later writings. Therefore, we propose an itinerary for thinking about Manuel Puig's works and its narrow relation with other arts, chiefly about audiovisual productions. We start from the comprehension that the scope of cinema as a cultural product changed the literary production beyond the theme. Thus, we will examine some movie strategies explored by the writer to compose his novels, which can be seen at the writing level, through fragmentation and media insertion, which, afterwards, has become a tendency in contemporary literature.
