Cortinarius himalayensis (Cortinariaceae), a new species of Cortinarius subgenus Telamonia section Brunnei, from the coniferous forests of Kashmir Himalaya, India

A new Cortinarius species in subgenus Telamonia section Brunnei, Cortinarius himalay-ensis , is reported from the coniferous forests of Kashmir Himalaya, India, based on morphological and molecular evidence. Morphologically, it can be distinguished from other species in the section Brunnei by the reddish-brown to dark-brown color of basidiomes with radially fibrillose pileus surface, lamella that are adnate with interspersed lamellula and large ovoid basidiospores. Molecu-larly, the nrDNA ITS sequence of the holotype differs from other species in the section Brunnei by at least 8 substitutions and 6 indels. The nrDNA LSU sequence differs from other available se-quences of the section by 9 substitutions.
