A High-Efficiency Dual-Polarized Conformal Transmitarray Antenna Based on Huygens Elements

摘要
A high-efficiency dual-polarized conformal transmitarray antenna is proposed by using cross-arranged Huygens elements composed of electric and magnetic resonance structures in this letter. In order to achieve high aperture efficiency (AE), the Huygens elements with high transmittance and angular stability are used as the phase modulation surface of the antenna. The dual-polarization performance of the antenna is achieved by cross arrangement of the units. The effects of different curvatures on the two polarizations are investigated separately, and the simulation results prove that the antenna has good curvature stability. Finally, the proposed antenna is fabricated and measured. The thickness of the array is 9 mm (0.24 lambda at 8 GHz), and the radius of curvature is 300 mm. The highest gains are achieved at 7.8 GHz with 23.62 and 24.57 dBi for x-polarization and y-polarization, and the corresponding AEs are 41.66% (x-polarization) and 46.25% (y-polarization), respectively. The proposed transmitarray antenna can be independently controlled in two polarizations with high AE, and it has high practical value for airborne and satellite-based detection radars.
