Customer-oriented power supply reliability and evaluation for Nigeria's electricity supply industry

摘要
The study considered issues of Nigeria's electric power distribution companies (DisCos) on power supply reliability, quality, fair billing, and revenue development to create useful computational algorithm (CA) for evaluating customer-oriented reliability and reliability worth indices that will inform effective reliability-centered maintenance, service and revenue development of the Discos and distribution networks (DNs). The CA considers the peculiarity of empirical real-time data recording in DisCos and can facilitate dynamic reliability evaluation of distribution systems service delivery. The CA was demonstrated on data from DNs of a selected DisCo, and its practical effectiveness was established. All equations of the CA were computed and displayed using Microsoft EXCEL worksheet. Moreover, obtained values of the indices, which are long term, show that Nigeria's DNs still require significant development to mitigate unreliability of supply and quality, and associated huge revenue loses till date.
