摘要
The exclusive effect of crystallographic texture and microstructure on biocorrosion behavior, wettability and biocompatibility of Ti6A14V (Ti64) alloy has been studied. Potentiodynamic polarization and EIS results showed that the DA-TD surface, in which {0002} and {11 (2) over bar0 } crystallographic planes are placed parallel to the surface, exhibited the most inferior corrosion rate of 2.2 x 10(-5 )mm/year. It was shown that this was due to the formation of a thick oxide layer on the surface as a result of the high surface energy. In contrast, the { 10 (1) over bar0} planes are most susceptible to corrosion as a result of a thin oxide layer formed on the surface. Most inferior water contact angle of 63.5 degrees (indicatimg more hydrophilicity) belonged to the DA-TD surface with high surface energy. Moreover, the MTT assay showed that the existence of {0002} and {11 (2) over bar0} high-energy planes parallel to the surface leads to the high MG-63 cell viability percentage at 24, 48, and 72 h.
