摘要
Background center dot Bone fractures are a significant cause of health impairment. However, observational studies have yielded inconsistent conclusions regarding the correlation between tea consumption and bone fractures. Objective center dot This meta-analysis aims to examine the influence of tea consumption on bone fractures by conducting a comprehensive search of databases such as PubMed, Embase, and others. Methods center dot The meta-analysis utilized STATA software and identified a total of 9 observational studies involving 147 950 participants. The pooled odds ratio (OR) and corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using a random effects model. Results center dot The pooled OR estimating the correlation between tea consumption and bone fractures, based on the data from the 9 observational studies, was 0.89 (95% CI, 0.781.04). Subgroup analysis revealed no significant correlation between the two factors in either cohort studies (n = 3; OR = 0.97; 95% CI, 0.89-1.06) or case-control studies (n= 6; OR = 0.91; 95% CI, 0.70-1.19). The dose-response analysis did not find a significant linear correlation (P =.983). Conclusions center dot The findings indicate that tea consumption does not exhibit a significant association with the risk of bone fractures. However, further studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to confirm this conclusion.
