摘要
The demand of consumers is ecofriendly fibrous materials which can be used for the manufacture of composites. The need for products made from wood-thermoplastic composites have increased in a great amount. Automobiles, pallets, building materials and decking materials are considered as the main markets. Not only plants, but also animals are a source of natural fibers. The fabrication and experimental investigation of the properties of hybrid sandwiched composites of duck feather fiber (DFF) and jute fiber (JF) reinforced polymer is done in this study. The main objective is to provide a new material reinforced with jute fiber and waste duck feather fibers in a polymer matrix. That is, natural fibers-based hybrid sandwich composite panels which are useful for structural and non-structural applications. Biodegradability of the products coupled with reduction of pollution by extensive utilization of waste duck feathers is an added advantage. It was noted that 3 layers of DFF and JF composites exhibited good mechanical performances when compared with 2 layers composites and the results obtained from the investigation can be adopted for the successful implementation in various industrial applications.
