Compulsator delivers high energy density and power density than the capacitor-based sources for pulse power supply, including natural current zero-crossing capabilities, making it excellent for electromagnetic launch (EML) applications. The energy discharge from the conventional compulsator is 0.17% of stored energy in the rotor. This article introduces a novel compulsator with two armature windings to discharge higher energy in each shot. One armature winding works as an inner rotor compulsator and other one acts as an outer rotor compulsator. As a result, compulsator discharges more energy to load in a single fire and improves projectile exit velocity. The performance of newly designed compulsator in single-phase short-circuit condition and a variable inductance and resistance-based circuit model of EML is presented in detail. Simulated findings indicate that the designed compulsator meets its intended purpose.
