摘要
The objective of this study is to investigate and compare the effect of tunnelling on the response of a framed building on different types of foundations. Ovalling effect of circular tunnel on displacement of building for different location of tunnel considering different types of foundation as well have been analysed for with and without lining of tunnel on FEM-based software ABAQUS. The study has been performed using FEM modelling software ABAQUS. For this, three different types of foundation have been considered, namely isolated foundation, mat foundation and pile foundation. Also, El-Centro N-S motion is provided at the bottom of bed rock. Soil medium has been taken uniform throughout the depth, same building has been considered throughout the analysis and depth of tunnel is kept constant and has been taken 4 m below the bottom surface of foundation level. The effect of varying the diameter of tunnel located at the centre axis of the building for the three types of foundation considered have also been analysed. The maximum displacement of the building frame is observed when the tunnel is situated just below the centre axis of the building frame for all types of foundations. Building constructed over isolated foundation show maximum displacement as compared to building constructed over mat foundation as well as pile foundation for all locations and sizes of tunnel.
