摘要
Objective: This study, it was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility of Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates isolated from different samples sent to the microbiology laboratory of our hospital in five years retrospectively.Material and Method: 3422 E. coli strains isolated from different samples sent to Malatya Turgut ozal University Faculty of Medicine Malatya Training and Research Hospital Microbiology Laboratory between January 2015 and December 2019 was evaluated retrospectively within the scope of this study. Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility tests (ADT) of all isolates were performed with the VITEK 2 & REG; automated system. Antimicrobial susceptibility tests and interpretation of results were made in accordance with the recommendations of The European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST).Results: According to the ADT results of 3422 E. coli strains included in the study, the antibiotics with the highest resistance rates were respectively; ampicillin (67.1%), cefuroxime axetil (44.9%) amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (42.5%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (41.7%), ceftazidime (39.6%) and ciprofloxacin (39.7%) were determined. The antibiotics with the lowest resistance rates, respectively; carbapenems (imipenem 0.6%, meropenem 0.6%, ertapenem 2.7%), fosfomycin (2.5%), nitrofurantoin (2.5%) and amikacin (6.3%).Conclusion: The resistance rates detected in this study were found to be similar to those in our country. We believe that these data will guide the treatment of E. coli infections and contribute to the success of treatment.
