摘要
Ballantyne (this issue) argues that future research on intellectual humility should move beyond purely dispositionalist approaches. We endorse this view and argue that recent developments in research on personality dynamics provide a useful framework for understand the role of intellectual humility in promote the outcomes of good intellectual character. Specifically, we argue that dynamic theories of personality such as Whole Trait Theory can a) provide a model for understanding epistemic virtues such as intellectual humility, b) clarify how it can mutually reinforce other intellectual virtues to produce the outcomes of good intellectual character and, c) provide a framework for interventions focused on intellectual character development.
