摘要
We evaluate the diffusion coefficient D of F1-ATPase, a biological rotary motor fueled by adenosine triphosphate, from the time-course of its rotation obtained by single-molecule experiments. It is shown that D has a peak as a function of external torque. This confirms for the first time that the diffusion enhancement in molecular motors predicted based on a simple theoretical model occurs in a real biological system at work.
