摘要
In this article, the authors present the scope and nature of a global movement to modify or replace the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5, 2013). The authors review more contextually and culturally affirming diagnostic models that have emerged over time. Steps to advance new practices are suggested, with emphasis on the importance of client and counselor input in informing the paradigmatic shift away from the current system.
