Oriented carbon fiber/PEO functional modified polyethylene separator for high-performance lithium metal batteries

摘要
The commercialization of lithium (Li) metal batteries is largely hindered by serious safety hazards resulting from dendrite growth and huge volume change of Li metal anode. Herein, we propose a multifunctional oriented polyimide carbon (OPIC) fiber, polyethylene oxide (PEO) modified layer coated commercial polyethylene (PE) separator by doctor-blade casting to guide homogeneous Li deposition. Therefore, the deposited Li morphology becomes more uniform and denser. Owing to the improvement of the Li metal anode side, Li||LiFeO4 full cells assembled with OPIC/PEO@PE separators delivered a discharge capacity of 102.5 mA h g-1 at 1.0C after 200cycles.
