GENERAL EVALUATIONS ON THE FORMATION PROCESS OF TURKISH NATIONALISM IN AZERBAIJAN

Nationalism is one of the universal concepts. Nationalism has been one of the most prominent notions since the modern era. Although it is an ideology related to the modern era, it has existed since the formation of states. Each geography has its own unique nationalist ideal. The concept of nationalism has been shaped according to these conditions, which include different languages, beliefs, histories, and cultural lives. Nationalism in Azerbaijan has served only one purpose, and that is to gain independence. Azerbaijan Turks have protected and fought for their culture, language, and territorial integrity. In this study, the factors that triggered the emergence of Turkism within the borders of the Azerbaijani state since the 19th century, the emergence and development process of Turkish nationalism, the path it has drawn, and the struggles for it are evaluated and information is provided. The social reflections of Turkish nationalism in Azerbaijan during the Tsarist and Soviet periods, the impact of the October Revolution of 1917 on Azerbaijani Turks, and the birth and development of Turkish nationalism in Azerbaijan are analyzed and information is provided.
