摘要
At first glance Karl Philipp Moritz's "Gotterlehre" (Treatise on the Gods) appears to be a textbook example of graecophile classicism. However, on closer examination it becomes clear that the chapter on the deity Cybele from Asia Minor goes far beyond a culture of classical forms. Instead, Moritz understands - from the context of contemporary philosophy and his own empirical psychiatry - the fantasy world of Greek mythology as a gateway to amorphous deep layers of the psyche which are closed to rational terminology and which are the ultimate foundation of beauty itself.
