摘要
Fractured C14 (hexagonal close-packed) Laves phase Zr(Fe,Cr)2 precipitates were found in beta forged Zircaloy4. Transmission electron microscopy observations showed that the precipitates were initially a single entity and, during hot forging, underwent fracture along the planes where Peierls stress possibly exceeded fracture stress. Narrow interfacial width of a few nanometres and small misorientation angle in case of each fractured precipitate also implied that the precipitate retained brittle nature at high temperature. The fracture mainly occurred along the c-axes of Laves phase precipitates. (c) 2023 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
