摘要
Currently, preeclampsia is one of the main compli-cations of pregnancy, which can put maternal and fetal health at risk. A study carried out analyzed the relationship between the pre-pregnancy Body Mass Index and preeclampsia in 60 pregnant women bet-ween the ages of 20 and 40 at the Hospital Matilde Hidalgo de Procel, in Ecuador. This seeks to analyze the relationship between diet and the development of preeclampsia in pregnant women, to propose nutri-tional recommendations that contribute to improving maternal and fetal health. Among the results, they in-dicated that the pre-pregnancy Body Mass Index did not have a significant effect on the development of preeclampsia, but an association was found with di-seases related to diet, obesity and overweight. This result does constitute a concern to the community about the effects of preeclampsia in pregnant wo-men in the country. Therefore, the country requires the training of professionals trained in nutrition and maternal-fetal health. Therefore, the article proposes to encourage research studies on nutrition and ma-ternal-fetal health with the purpose of disseminating the results to the scientific community and society.
