摘要
In teaching and learning the English language, the acquisition and mastery of writing skills should be enhanced; however, the student's writing ability keep showing an inadequate level of this macro skill. Also, the evaluative practice of learning English writing, dismissed to hetero-evaluation, increases the problem. Therefore, the research aimed at determining the effectiveness of self-evaluation in developing writing skills in ninth-degree students of the Fiscal Educational Unit Luis Fernando Vivero. This study was descriptive, quasi- experimental, and correlational. The sample consisted of 40 students who applied a pre-test and a post-test. The t-Student test was used to analyze the data. The results show that there was self-assessment had a significant influence on the ability to write in English. The conclusion states that self-assessment improves the development of writing skills.
