Las imágenes dinámicas de Roma y de Diocleciano en Lo fingido verdadero, de Lope de Vega

This article analyzes the functions of Rome and of the character of Diocletian as dynamic images in Lo fingido verdadero. The impressions of the city and the character vary constantly according to the perspectives and the different fictional levels, within a very complex dramatic structure. This fact is related to the interpretation of the martyrdom of Saint Genesius by the different spectators-those who are situated within the comedy and the public of the corral- and to the perception of the play within a particular genre.
