摘要
BackgroundIn appropriately selected individuals, solid silicone augmentation mentoplasty is a popular operation with consistent cosmetic outcomes. While many surgeons use an external technique, the intraoral procedure provides outstanding cosmetic results without the need for an external scar. This is a clinical study that describes a minimal invasive intraoral surgical approach with little soft tissue disturbance.MethodsBetween 2018 and 2020, a total of 28 individuals had their chins augmented using solid silicone implants. The patients were followed for at least 18 months. The following data was collected: demographics, indications, patient satisfaction questionnaire responses, and complications.ResultsThere were no displacement, infection, tissue response, lower lip incompetence, and mental nerve damage, with any of the implants. Two occurrences of superficial mucosal irritation at the suture site were identified and were unrelated to the suture. The face components' symmetry, projection, and overall balance were all great. All the patients were happy with the practical and cosmetic results. The lack of an outward scar was an advantage for the patients.ConclusionsBased on our study, the intraoral minimal invasive surgical technique with a minimal transverse incision avoiding disruption of the mentalis muscle is recommended for its ease, simplicity, patient satisfaction, low complication rate, and circumvention of an external scar.Level of evidence: Level IV, Therapeutic.
