A porous covalent organic framework, COF-LZU-1 [(TFB)(2)(PDA)(3)](imine) has been synthesized using 1,3,5-trisformylbenzene (TFB) and p-Phenylenediamine (p-PDA) in 1-4 Dioxane via Schiff base condensation reaction. The obtained crystalline material has been analyzed through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis/photoluminescence spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analyzer. After confirmation of the crystalline structure and hexagonal geometry of COF-LZU-1, the potential of COF for pH-controlled drug delivery has been demonstrated using spectroscopic techniques. The drug release profiles were estimated by varying pH values of 5.8, 6.8, and 7.4. The findings suggest maximum drug release % at pH-5.8 (90%) and minimum at pH-7.4 (24%), respectively. Overall, we have found out that the acidity of the medium has greatly influenced drug kinetics. Our primary spectroscopic results exhibit good estimation of drug loading and release profile in PBS buffer under variable pH.
