Moravia at the European Parliament: the sense of God and more in the time of the atomic bomb

This essay delves into Alberto Moravia's time at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (1984-1989) and especially into the atomic bomb in relation to God. It analyses a number of articles from the column 'Diario europeo' published by 'Corriere della Sera' over the same period. On the one hand, atomic warfare features as a collective death wish, on the other, as a longing for life (the bomb as a hobgoblin and the survival of mankind). To Moravia, the fundamental questions, including God himself, must become 'political', so as to avoid utter self-destruction.
