DGIMTalk on digital innovations. In the hurdles to electronic patient records

For two and a half years now, people with statutory health insurance have been able to apply to their health insurance provider for the electronic patient record (EPR) - but so far, not even one in a hundred of those insured has done so. At the DGIMTalk on 3 July, led by PD Dr. med. Sebastian Spethmann, Chairman of the DGIM's Digital Healthcare Research Working Group, experts discussed why this key digitalization project in the healthcare sector lacks popularity, what hurdles need to be overcome before it can be widely used and what advantages and disadvantages the ePA entails.
