Approximation of functions by genuine Srivastava-Gupta type operators

In the present paper, we estimate some approximation properties of a general sequence of Srivastava-Gupta operators defined in (Gen. Math 26:1-2, [13]) which preserve constant and linear functions. In this direction, first, we calculate some moments and central moments of the operators in terms of hypergeometric series. We establish the order of convergence of the operators employing the Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness, Voronovskaya type asymptotic formula, and the degree of approximation of the operators in a weighted space. Lastly, we discuss the approximation theorem via statistical convergence.
