Hemingway between hell and paradise

Islands in the stream is what remains of Hemingway's project to compose a "Book of the Sea" which would integrate his memories of his life in Cuba, in the presence of his children, with his navigations in the Keys, from 1942 to 1944, looking for German submarines. As it was published in 1970, this novel offers a singular portrait of an artist, at the same time a painter fascinated by the natural world, a father who will lose all his children, a fighter who also fights against his demons, the novel reviewing all the "palliatives" available to the artist. A book without form? Indeed, like the sea.
