摘要
Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is a sleep disorder that can affect the cardiovascular and neurovascular systems, so its correct diagnosis and treatment is of utmost importance. At present, Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD) have proven to be a viable alternative to treat patients with moderate or mild OSAS. Nowadays, MADs developed in digital environments are the worldwide trend since the results are more reliable and faster. The aim of this work was to design a protocol for the manufacture of DAMs, using CAD/CAM and 3D printing programs. For the design of the DAMs, impressions of a patient's arches were taken using the traditional method, which were subsequently digitized with a 3D scanner. A mesh editing software was used for the digital processing of the models and the design of the DAMs was carried out on them. The DAMs were made with light-curing resin using 3D printing. The methodology is described with a study subject, but it is applicable in any case. Employing CAD/CAM software and available 3D printing technologies, two fixed-type DAMs, composed of a single plaque (monobloc), were developed. The development of DAMs is a major step forward, which enhances customized medicine in the country and favors the treatment of patients suffering from OSAS.
