In 1988, experts from NASA warned the US Congress that global warming had indeed begun and that it was likely caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Since that warning, scientists have struggled to convey vital information about the severity of climate change to the masses in a way that encourages radical and timely change. The Canadian Green Alliance endeavours to create resources and tools that help the theatre industry address climate change within its practices. This project has a clear agenda to help green the sector but also to embolden arts workers across the country to prioritize the climate crisis in their policies, as well as their artistry. The project inquiries about whether artists are the missing communicative link between science and action. Throughout history, there is significant evidence that artists are on the ground floor of societal change, often being harnessed by anti-climate change advocates. This project endeavours to encourage artists to use their unique communication skills to be of benefit to the climate fight in the same way they have activated through historical moments before.
