摘要
Introduction: Body image is the perception that the individual has of his body, expressed in his mind, that is the way he sees himself, is a multidimensional construction influenced by biological, historical, social and cultural factors Objective: To verify the active lifestyle in body image satisfaction and self-esteem in academics of the physical education course. Materials and Methods: The sample was composed of 100 female students from the Bachelor of Physical Education course in the city of Teresina-PI. Data identification questionnaires, Rosemberg Scale (1985) and Female Silhouette Scales (ESF) validated by Kanno (2009) were used. Data analysis was performed using percentage values, which were calculated in the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 22.0 program. Results: The students are not satisfied with the body, but without high discrepancies, sedentary academics perceive themselves as Real Image (IR) in the silhouette (6) eutrophic component and idealize (II) in the silhouette (3) hypetrofiado component, however the active academics evaluate themselves in the Real Image (IR) the silhouette (4) eutrophic component and idealize (II) the silhouette (3) component also hypertrophy, both groups manifested discrepancies with characteristics of medium and low distortion. There was no association between self-esteem and physical exercise, since both active and sedentary academics manifested low self-esteem. Conclusion: The academics of both groups accuse the desire to be hypertrophy, idealizing bodies similar to those disseminated by the media.
