摘要
This article seeks to understand how the border conflicts between Argentina and Chile impacted the social life of a marginal border region in North Patagonia. We focus on the 1978 Beagle conflict, when both countries were under dictatorships, and on other events that, according to the memory of descendants of settlers on both sides of the Andes, consolidated an ambiguous relational dynamic, where cross-border coexistence is mixed with nationalism encouraged by state discourses and policies in contexts of geopolitical tensions.
