Translators frequently encounter 'false friends', words from two different languages that appear very similar or even identical but have very different meanings. However, false friends are not the only tricky words for translators: very similar words from the same language can also be mixed up. In this glos-sary, the author compiles more than 6oo pairs, trios, and even quartets of German words commonly found in medical texts, which are so similar that they can be confused with one another.
