摘要
The mass media, as increasingly active participants in social processes, inevitably play a substantive role in the interpretation of audiences and in the mediatization, as well as the transformation of everything they reflect. The following article presents a conceptual-historical analysis of the relationship between communication and peace, synthesizing the interpretations given by academia and supranational institutions. At a specific level, it analyzes the debates around communication for or toward peace and peace journalism, focusing on the latter as a relatively new paradigm that represents a proposal for mobilization and communicative as an alternative to subverting cultural violence. It is concluded that the relationship between communication and peace is an ethical response to the need to improve an unequal and unjust world through speeches, awareness, and public dialogue, based on the premise that addressing peace is a demand to recover the social function of the media, and the defense of democracy and human rights.
