摘要
Driven by radical innovations in manufacturing processes Industry 4.0 will significantly affect the workforce and turn the world of work upside down. The study makes a direct link between the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its impact on the workforce in the Indian automotive industry. It also examines the changing role of HR professionals in the Industry 4.0 paradigm. The findings of the study reveal that successful implementation depends on the ability of organisations to effectively attract, retain, and develop the workforce, and foster a culture of innovation and lifelong learning through re-skilling, and up-skilling. This study is based upon the review of literature on Industry 4.0 and the automotive sector globally. Prior studies examining the Industry 4.0 adoption in the automotive industry focused on technical aspects and not much emphasis was laid on the workforce implications and strategies. This study, therefore, attempts to fill the gap and develop a workforce framework that can help in increasing organisational effectiveness in Industry 4.0 paradigm.
