History of dermatology and allergology in the Nordseeklinik Sylt

In 1855 Westerland was declared a seaside resort. Even back then, people were aware of the special climatic conditions. The low-allergen, stimulating climate is still an important location factor that is used therapeutically as part of the exposure to climatic terrain both in the acute dermatological clinic and in the rehabilitation clinic. Since the Nordseeklinik Sylt was founded in 1937, it has had an eventful history. The dermatological departments have been continually expanded under the experienced dermatological chief physicians 1 . With the introduction of the naturopathic complex treatment in 2023 and the behavioral medicine-oriented rehabilitation, new focal points are emerging that are continually developing the clinic.
