摘要
This study explored potential future scenarios of digital technology-driven energy consumption in South Korea. A Battelle Scenario Inputs to Corporate Strategies analysis was conducted to derive the future scenarios. This study identified four key factors and the specific order among factors that will drive future energy consumption: energy mix, energy network, energy trading market, and changes in the industrial structure. A total of 13 scenarios were derived, and the three most likely scenarios were identified. In the first scenario, energy efficiency centered around Korea Electric Power Corporation. The second scenario involved a transition to a digitally powered society. Finally, an energy-centered, hyper-connected society was predicted for the third scenario.
