Reduction of the title compounds with LiAIH;or DIBAL （diisobutyl aluminium hydride） leads to the formation of 2-（disubstituted hydroxymethyl）cyclopropanemethanol （2）or 4,4-disubstituted 3-oxabicyclo[3.1.0] hexan-2-ol （3） respectively.
