摘要
With support by the National Natural Science Foundation of China,an international team led by Prof. Tian Hui(田晖) and Dr. Tanmoy Samanta at Peking University, unveiled the physical processes responsible for the generation of solar spicules and subsequent coronal heating. Their paper was published in Science (2019,366:890).The solar corona has a temperature of about one million degree, two orders of magnitude higher than the solar surface temperature. What causes such a high temperature? This is one of the biggest mysteries in astrophysics.
