A new import customs clearance verifica-tion system is expected to start operatingnationwide as of January 1,1999.The system,linking the computer net-works of customs and banks fromNovember 1 this year in Beijing,Shanghaiand Guangzhou as a trial,has provensuccessful by 10 financial institutions au-thorized to buy and sell foreign exchangein Beijing.
