摘要：
This study aimed to introduce the overview of the phonetic system of Urumqi dialect, comprising initials, finals and tones. It is conducted on the basis of field investigation and relevant literature review both synchronically and diachronically. On the synchronic level, a comparative analysis with Mandarin is conducted to exhibit current phonetic features of the Urumqi dialect. Diachronically, the ancient Middle Chinese sounds are presented to trace the historical origins of the Urumqi dialect.
